A Cisco Virtual Port Channel (vPC) is an etherchannel formed of links that are physically connected to two different Cisco Nexus 7000 or 9000 Series devices to appear as a single port channel by a third device e.g. an upstream Nexus switch.
The typical way of making an etherchannel is to use 2 or more ports that are on the same physical switch. Within the Nexus platform a virtual port channel (vPC) allows you to use links on physically separate switches as shown below.
