Frequently asked questions
What is Nautobot?
Nautobot is an open-source Network Source of Truth and Network Automation Platform designed to help network engineers manage their networks’ infrastructure more efficiently. It was developed by Network to Code, a company known for its contributions to network automation, and was officially released in early 2021. Nautobot is a fork of NetBox, which means it started as a copy of the NetBox codebase and then evolved independently, with its own set of features and improvements aimed at enhancing network automation capabilities.
Like NetBox, Nautobot includes features for IP address management (IPAM), data center infrastructure management (DCIM), and cable and circuit management. However, Nautobot extends these functionalities with a stronger focus on automation. It introduces several new features designed to integrate more seamlessly with automation workflows
