Since running this website I have received hundreds of emails from fellow CCIE students from around the world who have asked me questions about all areas of my studies. I try to reply to each and every one with a conclusive answer but this is now taking up too much of my time and I thought it would be easier if I just put it all down into a book.
I have learnt a lot of lessons – the hard way.
This book contains information on all those lessons learnt – so you don’t make the mistakes I did.
What this book covers?
This book does not cover technology – it is not a guide to understanding DMVPN or OSPF. There are many places where you can learn that, but there are not many publications covering the softer side of passing the lab. Your motivation, how to keep it, how to keep your family on board. How to plan your first attempt and much more.
This book is a collection of things that have worked for me and things that have not. I have learnt the hard way and had many failures along the way, but the whole process has made me a better engineer and I feel I have a lot of information in my head that I need to share.
Most of the questions I get are around the non technical side of the CCIE preparation, the technology is a given and there are countless resources on how to learn OSPF and DMVPN – What there is not is a guide on how to prepare, how to work study around your family, how long to study for, where to study, when to stop studying, how to recognise burn out, keeping physically and mentally fit etc.
