The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert is the highest level of professional certification that Cisco currently provide. Since it’s launce in 1993 the CCIE lab exam is considered to be the hardest IT certification in the industry.
Taking the form of an 8 hour practical exam this exam test the abilites of the candidate by getting them to configure complex network configurations on live equipment.
The CCIE has many tracks which include Routing & Switching, Security, Wireless, Storage and Service Provider.
All the information about the CCIE certification program can be found on Cisco’s website

To study for the CCIE exam takes months and even years to complete Cisco recommend at least 500 hours of hands on configuration practice is required to be able to pass this exam, along with real world experience it makes it a very difficult exam which most do not pass on the first attempt. Many candidates are making multiple attempts due to the very tight time restrictions and complex tasks required to complete.
If you are considering undertaking this task then I recommend you look at the help of a CCIE training company.
The one I would highly recommend is www.ine.com
If you do decide to undertake this journey the rewards at the end are worth it, but the road to get there is not an easy one.
