CCIE Study Guide – My plan for the next few months

After attending the INE 12 day bootcamp in the UK earlier this month I have completely revised my CCIE study plan.

I had been going along in 1st gear doing a bit here and there an now realise the level I actually need to be studying at. Which is actually about 5th gear!

Meeting other guys going through the same experience has certainly helped me focus.

My plan for the next few months is to attempt one INE Vol II lab per weekend and then spend the rest of the week solidifying on topics i am not sure about.

Target times 4 hours per day / 8 hours per weekend.

I certainly don’t know enough about MPLS / Multicast and QOS

My original approach was to go through INE Vol I workbook in it’s entirity – but after the bootcamp have realised there is just not enough time in my life to do that – so will be dipping in and out of that and focussing more on Vol II & III labs.

In amongst that I also need to factor in a healthy amount of troubleshooting.

I will post a formal study plan soon with targets to hit.

My original target of making my first attempt in December is gone and I am now aiming for Feb/March.

I will have to re-sit my written but that is not a bit issue.

CCIE study plan

Well today is the day I finally start my journey to become a CCIE.

I have been in networking now for about 5 years soley in the Cisco field so I have a good amount of experience. Not much in Mulitcast, IPv6, BGP and MPLS so I am looking forward to learning more about them!

I have attended a few courses over the years and passed my written in June last year. So I have only 6 months left to make my first attempt.

So I have booked the lab for 21st December 2010.

I am using Internetworkexperts materials and have purchased their entire self paced learning package. I have a full rack at work to lab on so that is good and I have sole access to it.

I am booked on INE’s 6 day bootcamp at the end of August, so that gives me 79 days until bootcamp and 179 days until the lab!

Current study plan is going through INE’s workbook volume 3 and reading where I get stuck.
